Enric Verdú Vilalta, graduated in chemical sciences from the IQS, establishes himself as a commercial agent specialized in the importation of oils and fatty acids in order to respond to the important demand of the Spanish soap industry.
The new offices in Plaza Palacio are acquired, located 5 minutes from Barcelona's harbour.
Mr. Verdú decides to go a step further and founds the company Interfat SA in order to allow future business expansion.
A warehouse is opened in Les Franqueses del Vallès, located in Barcelona.
Interfat opens new offices in Avenida Diagonal 403, in the financial and social center of Barcelona.
After several years gaining experience in companies in the financial and commercial sector, Enric Verdú de Carreras, second generation and son of the founder, joins Interfat. With the arrival of the second generation, he decided to expand the range of products regarding natural oils of vegetable origin, cosmetic industry and pharmaceutical laboratories.
A 16,000 m2 warehouse is opened in Castellbisbal, located in Barcelona, with the capacity to pack bulk.
Enric Verdú de Carreras assumes the executive management of the company.
The fast growth of international demand, pushes Interfat to open warehouses in Rotterdam (Holland) and Poznan (Poland).
The filling operations start in the South of Spain factory to process crude oils into refined ones. Opening of a warehouse in Vilafranca.
For the first time in history, Interfat exceeds 10,000 tons of product.
The adjoining offices are acquired in order to double the surface area and accommodate the staff increment derived from the growing activity.
Interfat passes the export threshold of 50% proving its competitiveness at an international level.
We start working at the bulk tank station in Botlek terminal, located in Rotterdam (the largest commercial port in Europe) to be able to unload the liquid product directly from the ships.
Interfat obtains the ISO 2001 certificate and certifies its organic products through Ecocert.
A warehouse is opened in Esparraguera, located in Barcelona.
This company has its origins in the 1950s when I decided, after finishing my Chemistry degree at IQS, to establish an import business specialized in animal oils and fatty acids in order to supply the growing demand of the Spanish soap industry.
I opened our first office in Plaza Palacio, located in Barcelona, but one step at the time the activity took on importance and, in 1977 I founded INTERFAT SA with a team of people who helped me to position the company in the market, gaining a solid reputation as specialist suppliers in vegetable and animal oils within the national and Portuguese industry.
In the mid-1980s, the growth of the business led us to move the company's headquarters to new and modern offices in Avenida Diagonal in Barcelona. Towards the 90s we decided to give more importance to our natural oils of vegetable origin products and to industries with the greatest influence such as cosmetics and pharmaceutical laboratories.
INTERFAT is currently considered a reference supplier in the market and our quality is highly recognized because of our quality and quick service. In addition, the extensive experience and knowledge of the sector allows our team to be in constant motion to satisfy our clients with the new areas they demand.
For a few years we have been in the process of expansion and internationalization to transfer our huge experience to other geographic markets.
