Description
Fish oil is obtained from various marine species such as anchovy, horse mackerel, mackerel, sardines… They are known as pelagic species which are found in shallow waters and near the coast. The average content of oil, by weight, is 3-5%, depending on the species.
Catches are mainly located in Chile, Peru, Denmark, Iceland, Norway… Very controlled due to fishing quotas set by the governments of each country.
The crude oil is marketed, refined, winterized and mixtures from different origins are created to obtain oils specific for the user.
